Having a better life starts with the view you have on your life. You can begin by taking the time out and appreciating what you have, and not focusing on things you don't have. I find that when I give back to the community and help someone in need, my life always hold much more significance and value. A better life means using what you got inside yourself to help others and share yourself. Furthermore, taking out the time each day to be thankful that you are not alone, hungry, unhealthy, or homeless can make you realize that you do have a "better" life.

Stop doing what your doing with who your doing it with.
Dress like the life you want, mix with the people you want in that life and go to places that you want in that life.
If you associate with losers - you will be a loser. If you associate with winners - you will be a winner.
Read books about a better life, books of inspiration and books that make you think. Look in the mirror everyday and tell yourself how lucky you are to be who you are.
Be 1% better a person today than you were yesterday...and you're on your way.

Since you did not give much information, I'd suggest:
- list out what you define as "a better life".
- work out the things you need to do to achieve your definition of "a better life" (material things or otherwise)
- that clearly shows you what you must do
- then work out a time table on how and when you want to achieve those things
and then work towards achieving all that.
A word of advise, material things do not necessarily constitute a "better life".

You don't give many details, Go to College their are many on-line Colleges, think positive, Don't go for low paying jobs, only apply for the higher paying ones,

i suggest this: read the bible. WHAT!?!?! NOT GOD!!!! no really. read it. the worst that happens is you understand it, the best that happens is you take it in. anyway just check it out.. your purpose in life is to relate to God, i belive that is mine anyway. So pick it up start with matt, mark, luke, jonh. any one of those. or something else i gues but those four take the least amount of prior knoledge.. esp. John.
