One foot right behind the front bolts the other you kick with and kick and push and go. Ballace is the first trick you'll learn the next is trying to ollie. I could sit here and explan all this to you but i'll post a site or couple that'll show you everything you need to know.

As for a board and setup it's basically up to you. I use a zero board with destrcto trucks spitfire wheels and bones red bearings. You as a beginner wouldn't need all that but you'd like to have something nice...not a walmart target board those suck to learn on. So get a nice deck...anything like almost, blind, element, zero, plan b, world industries, blank deck etc... there's lots to chose from. Almost are light and good for ollies so are zero's. trucks won't really matter you can just go to a store or online and have them do a complete setup for you but the bearings should at least be abec 5's or 7's for a smoother ride. wheels don't matter too much some wear different than others but you're a beginner so it's all good.

Practice at first in a parking lot, cement is better than asphalt but whatever you got will do. Just skate around and get the feel of the board fall down a few times :-P and keep practicing. The more you skate the better you'll be obviously but you don't HAVE TO do it everyday but a few times a week to keep the skills up helps.

ya i dont really skate but i do know that u have 2 put ur right foot in the back of the board or eles ur like called some kind of name...idk but here look at this........

THE SKATEBOARDING BASICS - First things first you have to find out your stance (either goofy or natural).
The most common way of doing this is to just step on the board as if it was going downhill. If you have your right foot at the front you are goofy, if you have your left foot at the front you are natural.

After you have done this, you should find a very slight slope and step onto the board, one foot at a time. Get the feel of the board as you roll slowly down the hill. Get of the board before you are going too fast. The best way to do this is to step off the board if you are going slowly and jump if you are going quickly. Both these options are risky though so BE CAREFUL!

Once you have the hang of skating down a slight slope, take your board onto the flat where you will have to push it with one of your feet. The best option in this situation is to use your "better foot" to push along the ground. In most circumstances this is a skater's back foot. Take a couple of "pushes" then put your foot back on the board and glide. Keep pushing when you loose momentum.

The next trick is to "tick-tack". This refers to the skater moving the nose of the board back and forth by applying pressure to the back kick, lifting the nose into the air and moving it with the front foot. The trick here is to learn to balance on the back wheels for that instant while you are moving the nose from side to side, before you touch down. Sounds tricky but isn't.
Basically
1 - apply slight pressure to the kick to get the nose into the air
2 - move the nose either to the left or the right before bringing it (the nose) back to the ground

ya so here i was looking up this stuff cuz i have no life :-\

I never skateboarded for a long time until I saw a guy look really cool carving turns on his long board. I bought a board that day and fell on my face a bunch. Then I went on a trip with no other transportation options and brought the skateboard, so I had to ride every day. After riding every day for 9 days I was really confident and capable. Just ride every day, build up slowly, and you'll be rad in no time.

I have no skill so my advice would be safety oriented.

Go with a buddy who knows how to teach you and help you if you get hurt. They can also pace you through the different moves and help you know if you are ready to move on in your attempts.

Wear a helmet and pads...maybe tie a pillow on your backside.

Learn how to FALL safely. Practice your tuck and rolls. Practice falling without throwing your arms out to catch yourself, breaking wrists, etc.

Learn how to choose, use, and repair your gear.

Have fun!

You need to get a beginners board, if you foot size is anywhere from 5.0 to 7.5 then you need a mini, like a 7.38 or a 7.40 size board. you need to learn the ollie, the kickflip, the pop-shuvit, the heelflip and the 180
