I don't want to say what I think it means.

It means the New world order, Satan's underworld secret society is doomed to destruction and anybody that is taken captive. It is here and spreading like a cancer threw society and its in the Christian church also. Don't play any occult games or practices, you may find your self in bondage to witchcraft/Demonic powers.

Let's look at a more literal translation:
2Th 2:3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, (ESV translation)

The rebellion, or the apostasy...

What does this mean? We might surmise that it refers to a wholesale abandonment of Christianity, a positive rejection of the Christian faith.

Then a great world figure will arise. As to his character, he is the man of sin or lawlessness, that is, the very embodiment of sin and rebellion. As to his destiny, he is the son of perdition; he is doomed to eternal judgment.

The Scriptures contain many descriptions of important personages who will arise during the Tribulation, and it is difficult to know when different names apply to the same person. Some commentators believe that the man of sin will be a Jewish Antichrist. Others teach that he will be the Gentile head of the revived Roman Empire.

Here are the names of some of the great rulers of the end times:
... the man of sin and son of perdition (2Th_2:3)
... the Antichrist (1Jo_2:18)
... the little horn (Dan_7:8, Dan_7:24-26) ... the king of fierce features (Dan_8:23-25)
... the prince who is to come (Dan_9:26)
... the willful king (Dan_11:36)
... the worthless shepherd (Zec_11:17)
... the beast out of the sea (Rev_13:1-10)
... the beast out of the earth (Rev_13:11-17)
... the scarlet beast with seven heads and ten horns (Rev_17:4, Rev_17:8-14)
... the king of the North (Dan_11:6)
... the king of the South (Dan_11:40)
... the false prophet (Rev_19:20; Rev_20:10)
... Gog, of the land of Magog (Eze. 38:2-39:11) [not to be confused with the Gog of Rev_20:8 who arises after the Millennium]
... the one who comes in his own name (Joh_5:43)

The man of sin has been given an intriguing variety of identifications down through the years. He has been equated with the Roman Catholic Church, the Pope, the Roman Empire, the final form of apostate Christendom, Judas reincarnated, Nero reincarnated, the Jewish State, Mohammed, Luther, Napoleon, Mussolini, and the embodiment of Satan.

As far as I understood by that is:-

Mathew 24 : 37But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

At the time of Noah people never gave ear to Noah for he had been talking about the rain for so many years. People might have thought some thing gone wrong with this man.
But when the flood came they realized, and it was too late for them.

The same way, the second coming of our Lord is being preached for more than 2000 years.
Today many people think this is not going to happen. Some say this is just a myth. some believers say this is not a physical thing, some people see this as a source of income, some preach prosperity gospel.

Today even the believers are not cared about the Coming of Christ.
Think about the science and technology, it has come to its peak within the past 50 years. Even believers are after them keeping away from the Word of God.
Think about the world economy today. The oil price play the major role in the world economy.
Seeing all these even the believers may become cold especially by the recent claim of tomb and similar claims.

The message of anti Christ is also spreading more than it happened in last century, They say they are for peace and put forth solutions for peace.

Seeing and hearing all these many believers may decline their belief in Jesus Christ and follow the falsehood.

What it is saying is that Christ will not come until Satan comes first pretending to be Jesus. and he is going to be very good at it . In fact he was going to be here 7yrs pretending to be Christ. But for the sake of God's elect his time for pretending has been shortened to just 5months. He will be performing miracles in the sight of man and putting on a pretty good show actually. And pretty much the whole world will whore after him thinking he is the real Christ. This is what is referred to as the apostasy (falling away) . And yes believers could be deceived. Do you know how not to be deceived? Maybe that should be your next question. Or email?

It means the apostasy must come first. A general falling away from the true God. When the Church seems to be on its knees the Anti-Christ will appear.
Revelation 13 gives us a clue. The first beast was the Roman empire. Other scholars say it was Gnosticism. The important thing is the second beast has not appeared yet. What could it be?
Secular humanism? Atheism? Islam?
Peace and every blessing!

The "falling away" refers to an apostasy, a period where the true church was not on the earth in its full form. This happened some time after the death of Jesus Christ. Christians in the old world basically fragmented, and over time, changed the doctrines and practices associated with the true church that Christ had established during His ministry. Reformers like Martin Luther realized that the Christian church had changed and tried to get it back closer to its original state, but so much had been lost. In particular, the authority from Jesus Christ to administer certain religious ceremonies, which must be received by the laying on of hands by those who hold the authority, had been lost. For this reason, it was necessary for a restoration of the true church of Christ to happen. This took place on April 6, 1830, when the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was established. It is a restoration of the original church of Jesus Christ. The authority to administer the church was received by Joseph Smith and his colleague directly from John the Baptist and Peter, James, and John, original followers of Jesus Christ who held the authority.

So, in the context of 2 Thessalonians 2, this scripture was intended to explain to those who thought that the second coming of Jesus Christ would be soon that there would be an apostasy before the second coming.

Prior to His Crucifixion, the Lord Jesus Christ had established His Church. It included apostles, prophets, seventies, teachers, and so forth. And the Master sent His disciples into the world to preach His gospel.

After a time the Church as established by the Lord fell into spiritual decay. His teachings were altered; His ordinances were changed, and the Apostles were killed. The Great Apostasy came as had been foretold by Paul, who knew that the Lord would not come again “except there come a falling away first.”

This Great Apostasy followed the pattern that had ended each previous dispensation. The very first was in the time of Adam. Then came dispensations of Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and others. Each prophet had a divine commission to teach of the divinity and the doctrine of the Lord Jesus Christ. In each age these teachings were meant to help the people. But their disobedience resulted in apostasy. Thus, all previous dispensations were limited in time and location. They were limited in time because each ended in apostasy. They were limited in location to a relatively small segment of planet earth.

This is sad news if we stop here and don't talk about the restoration. However, I already answered the question..and if you want to learn about the restoration or as Paul put it "the restitution of all things" or "the times of refreshing" follow the link below. This may change your life.

somebody had instructed the contributors of the church at Thessalonica that Jesus had already back, and that the rapture had already got here approximately. They have been upset. Paul became into assuring them that it had not surpassed off and gave 2 indicators that would desire to ensue until now the 2nd coming (day of the Lord). First there would be a super falling away interior the church, or a revolt from the religion. 2nd, the anti-Christ would exhibit himself interior the temple and set himself as much as be worshiped as God. The temple became into destroyed in 70 A.D. It has not been rebuilt yet, and could be until now this would ensue. lots of the furniture for the recent temple has already been made, however the construction has not. there is an Islamic mosque on the temple mount right this moment.

It is dangerous, however, to label any person as the anitchrist and to try and predict Christ's coming based on that assumption. Paul mentions the antichrist, not so we might attempt to identify him, but so we might be ready for anything that threatens our faith. If our faith is strong, we don't need to be afraid of what lies ahead, because we know that this lawless man has already been defeated by God, no matter how powerful he comes or how terrible our situation seems. God is in control, and he will be victorious. Our task is to be prepared for Christ's return and to spread the gospel so that even more people will also be prepared.

Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for (that day will not come) until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

Scripture in NIV.. think it explains it perfectly
