To answer the question: I take it at safe doses for about two days a month for menstrual cramps, and occasionally (perhaps twice a month) for headaches.

It thins the blood, so if you do injure yourself, bear in mind you will bleed more and that goes for cuts as well as internal injuries like muscle tears.

If you get cut, be prepared to bleed. Ibuprofen typicallly thins the blood so if you happen to bust your nose in the pool, or get a deep cut watch out. Also, you should avoid prolonged use of Ibuprofen. GI track (gastrenal intestinal) will have bleeding or ulcers, decreased renal or hepatic function, hypertension, and dehydration. And some variations of ibuprofen have been know to cause death in the elderly. Prolonged use of ibuprofen is strong advised agains.

I would be concerned about the side effects or whether it will affect your heart so I looked up some info and found this stuff below.

The side effects of Ibuprofen are Nausea*, epigastric pain*, heartburn*, diarrhea, abdominal distress, nausea and vomiting, indigestion, constipation, abdominal cramps or Pain, fullness of GI tract (bloating and flatulence so be prepared to have to deal with running to the bathroom if you have these side effects.

Ibuprofen may cause an increased risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke, which can be fatal. This risk may increase with duration of use. Patients with cardiovascular disease or risk factors for cardiovascular disease may be at greater risk. So if you have a heart condition you need to be aware.

Pain is the bodies way to tell us that something hurts and we need to take care of it. Either heal it or stop doing things to keep it hurting.

Your reason for using the med makes a difference of how I would answer.
