At a local Buddhist temple, they made sushi, I believe with fish, at a public gathering.

I know many Buddhists who eat meat and fish. I'm not sure it's a question of right and wrong so much as it's an act they chose that has negative consequences - but only for the people directly involved (if you eat meat it's bad for your karmic balance, not mine).

Zen Buddhists do eat fish, because they believe that it is not true killing, but rather a displacement from their natural environment. Those are the only ones I know who are not vegetarian.

Ofcourse buddhist devour meat and fish yet buddhist dont inspire human beings to finish that. monks n nuns too devour meat at the same time as that's provided yet they ll no longer devour meat in the journey that they see killing animal for them, in the journey that they listen killing animal for them or in the journey that they are uncertain. in the buddhist monastery, monastery not in any respect serve meats to the monks n nuns considering that thousands of them leaves at the same time there's a chance for human beings to kill animal in the call of alternatives. yet in my view you may devour what ever if it does no longer fall in the ten unfavourable act. besides a lot of human beings basically judging buddhism by moral, i imagine buddhism is more beneficial than that.

There are different forms of Buddhism but I don't know if they are all vegetarian and if you listened to Gautama the Buddha you might refrain from the transition from philosophy to religion as he indicated . but although the religious ones generally are vegetarian I don't remember any tenets requiring this even if it is far better for ones health .

I think many Buddhists are vegetarians, but the ones that are not often emphasize respect for other animals, even if we eat them.
