The parents are still feeding their babies and today there are already 2 new eggs in the nesting box. What's going to happen? I don't want more babies and I think it will be too much hard work for the parents to do this again. I can't take out the box while they are feeding their babies. I can't hand feed them all either. It's too sad to throw the eggs away. The mother will just continue to lay, right? Why are they so enthusiastic to breed? I'm already hand feeding the oldest baby as the parents doesn't feed her. But she still lives with them in the same cage. I think it's wrong to take them away from the parents as they still feed the other two. What can I do? They are not ready to eat on their own yet.

DO NOT split up the Parents, they work as a team to incubate the eggs and raise the young, it is too much work on one bird to care for the babies. There are two options, 1. You take over hand feeding the babies and wean them and that way the parents can care for the eggs. 2 you can find another breeder with Cockatiel ans see if they have a sergeant pair that will care for the eggs.

As long as your birds are getting enough food and calcium in their diet they will be fine. Some Cockatiels will breed year around depending on where you live and other factors. But when they need a break from having young they will know when to stop.

when the babies are about 4 weeks old the parents will begin to lay another clutch. The only way to prevent this is to take the nest box away. The babies are old enough to come out of the nest box now and reside in the parents cage another week or two. After that you will need to transfer the babies to their own cage or the parents may become aggressive towards them. Especially the male as he will view any male chicks you have as competition. You can remove the eggs when you remove the nest box. If the nestbox remains she will continue to lay this clutch. sometimes you can leave the other clutch in as they will sometimes help feed the new chicks. But, i would be on the safe side and remove the chicks in a couple of weeks or before this clutch starts hatching. If you leave the nest box you'll see that the first clutch will start leaving the nestbox very soon now. This is perfectly normal and is what they do in the wild. allowing them to have 2 clutches per year will not hurt them.

They will keep continuing to lay; it really is just a matter of reproduction. Continue to watch the hatchlings and make sure they are being fed and if not you'll have to feed them yourself. Rather than move the entire box you can just extract any eggs that are laid.
