I make that dish all the time and it gets raves. Cook the rice separately. Simply steam it. Then place a portion of rice on the plate and lay the beef stew with its juices over the rice. People can then mix it together as they wish. Trust me, it is yummy. Just make sure that the stew meat is cooked long enough so that it is tender.

Well not mixed together (to start with anyway). Serve the stew over the rice. What you do with after it is on your plate is up to you though.

One way to find out... try it!
It sounds pretty tasty to me. I'd cook them separately and then slap a scoop of rice on the plate and top it with a healthy dollop of the stew. Grab a fork and mix 'em together.
Hmmm, I think I might know what we're having for dinner tomorrow. :-)

I don't see why it would taste bad, go ahead and try it! I normally put big chunks of potatoes in my beef stew, or I serve it up with mashed potatoes. Because the stew is so hearty, I wouldn't go crazy with the carbs, you know? You don't want to end up miserably stuffed, right?

Sounds a lot like goulash. Just add the stew and rice together on a plate and there you go. Instant meal!!!

Yes, its very good. I normally put the rice in a bowl and then ladle stew over it. I also did different types of rice like basmati with pine nuts.

you would be surprised to know stew goes very well with rice,i have had it several times & serve it myself too,only difference is the stew we make in india has a bit of spice & chilliie in it.

My old boyfriend always had beef stew and chili on rice. It was good.
