We notice a significant loss of weight since she stopped drinking her milk. She refuse to have any now and started to be picky with her food. Last I checked, she was 14.5Kg at the age of 2 and a half. Now she's 13.5Kg, everyone commented on her weight which seemed to have detiriorated. She's also rather tall for a 3 yr old (for an asian height) She's about 1.2 meters, so the sight is obvious. I started putting her on Appeton Lysine Syrup which should improve her appetite. Although she's eating better since 2 weeks ago, I'm still concern that she's not gaining any weight. What should her weight be at this age and height?

My advice is don't soley trust anything you read on the internet, particularly on an advice board. When the issue is the health of your child and if you are truly concerned about it, go and see a doctor or a registered dietician who will have the facts and the answers for you.

Three year olds are notorious for being picky eaters. it is a phase that they go through. I see moms just frantic that the child may die of starvation as all they will eat is jello or some other random food. Is she off of milk because of allergy or just refusing to have it? if she will not drink milk then try cheese or yoghurt even ice-cream. try to give her small healthy snacks throughout the day. Her weight seems fine and she will get over this phase in a few months. If you can make sure she gets a vitamin every day, she should be fine. I know it is frustrating, but that is to be expected. Try not to worry too much. :)

Why are you not taking her to a doctor to determine what she should weigh for her age and height? And if she doesn't want her milk, why not flavor it so she will drink it.?

I don't know your Kg....but I do know that children go thru times where there appetite slows....I had a 3 year old that did that for awhile....and then all of a sudden she started eating more again....I would let her eat snacking , since she doesn't want her meals....but pay attention to exactly how much food she actually eats....and get a doctor's opinion.

If he isn't concerned, than she is probably just having a slow eating period ...but you can offset that by giving her supplemental food in another way....like here, we would give her a drink like "ensure" which has a lot of nutrition in it....add something like that to her diet until she starts eating more.....

I certainly have a three 3 hundred and sixty 5 days old nephew and he weighs 32lb and he would be 4 in December, he's nice and properly - I certainly have a 5 3 hundred and sixty 5 days old and he weighs 5 stone yet he's 128cm tall and follows his dad yet i difficulty approximately that too. besides the reality that he isn't any way fat and is in clothing for 8-9 years I ought to purchase adjustable waists to deliver the waist in on them. Dont difficulty i'm optimistic he's nice yet once you're relatively apprehensive then touch your well being centred visitor or GP.
