This sounds more like a legal question. Sadly, when it comes to mental health patients (which this guy truely is with a history of PTSD) things get mucky real fast on how to handle them. Most end up like this guy and are thrown in overfilled, underfunded mental institutes where they sit idley by, knowing that if they behave they can soon return to society and get back to what they are compelled to do. The best we can do to protect our children is pay attention to where these sex offenders live and talk to our children about them.

That is deplorable. It happens all too often, it seems like. The only thing that I can say about the whole terrible situation is that God will take care of it in the end. What about that guy from Florida who raped and buried that girl alive? I am fairly certain that he had already been to prison once for being a sexual predator, but he "served his time" and got out...and look what he did. Honestly, I truly cannot believe that as a society we don't lock these people up and throw away the key. Then you hear about some drug user who gets all this jail time for possession - while a pedophile ruins the lives of childen and gets a slap on the wrist. Incredible.

If you know for certain that he continues this behavior you have to report it. Any time we know of child abuse or sexual molestation we are saving people by reporting it. While it's true most molesters were molested as children it's not any reason to allow it to continue or we'll end up with a society of molesters. The laws are generally written by men and enforced by men. Men rarely feel at risk or threatened so they don't understand how devastating it can be to a person for the rest of their life. Women grow up knowing others can prey on them and learning how to fend off unwanted attention. Children need others to watch out for them or they can become victims so we must be vigilant and turn in these vermin before they have a chance to get away with more. The laws need to be changed and be much, much stronger and give much stronger sentences but until that happens we're all charged with protecting those at risk.

Oh boy...you opened the doors...this is my pet peeve. I am a forensic nurse examiner, and belong to S.A.N.E. (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners). I see and examine children daily who have been molested or raped. In my state there are laws that keep this kind of perp in jail with a high bond....awaiting trial and they are whisked off to prison!!! They are not put into a mental institution...they are tried for their crimes and do about 10-20....usually 20....if it's aggravated SA. You need to start getting those people who are passing him through the system OUT OF OFFICE! You need to write to your senators and congressmen and demand something be done about the laws in your city and state. There is no excuse for this. PTSD...is a crock defense! I know plenty of people who have had that disorder and they don't go around assaulting little girls or boys. He needs help true...but he needs to be behind bars if and when he gets it!

That is so wrong. I am sorry that he had such a tragic childhood but that does not mean he should be out to harm other people.
This is a big problem. Kpop answered you by saying this is because the U.S. is so stupid. I don't think her answer is too intelligent either. We hear about this happening a lot in the U.S.; however at least we try and address the problem, whereas other countries do not even consider this a crime.

Just another fine example of the current trend in thinking..."it's not my fault...because...." I don't really long for the old days but at least we all used to know that we were responsible for our own actions and ...ok I'll shut up. However, the old saying..."Don't do the crime if you can't do the time" doesn't really apply anymore does it? Now you can do the crime, cry and whine and you don't have to do any time..as a matter of fact you probably could end up suing the person you did the crime against because they somehow trampled on your rights while you were committing the crime against them. OMG I used to be such a liberal...what happened??

These stories of miscarried justice are infuriating. I believe the man should be either imprisoned for life, killed, or forced to do hard labor for years in order to get back out in society, and even then be watched carefully. But at the same time I do feel a small amount of pity for the awful man because of what he went through as achild. It's a sad, vicious cycle.

As horrifying as it is, this kind of thing happens quite frequently. If you have FIRSTHAND knowledge of his acts you should report him to the police and the school board so that they can notify his neighborhood that a SEX OFFENDER is living in the area. They can also make sure he is not living too close to schools as well. If you feel like they are dragging their feet, then call the local network TV News station and tell them everything you know. Nothing like national exposure and causing a scandal to get things done.

I head of somethings like that too. They should be in-jailed and not rehabilitated . It doesn't work for them. I feel they will always try to do it again, and that is the sad part. That some innocent child will have to pay for his so called manhood.

Laws are too slack these days I think, people should be brought to justice for their crimes. I don't care what the boys past Is he should be set straight. Give the little rat a few years in state prison, that'll teach him a lesson.
