What do you mean by affordable ? A house in the ghetto costs a half million dollars.

Perhaps consider one L.A.'s gentrifying neighborhoods like Eagle Rock, Silverlake, Echo Park and Atwater Village.

Strange thing about the Los Angeles area: The affordable areas are not safe, and the safe areas are not affordable.

I know that doesn't help you much, but that's just the way it seems to be.

Depends what you think affordable is. I live in Downey, I find it safe, and very affordable to live in.

safe and affordable are almost an oxymoron around here.

statistically, thousand oaks area and simi valley have the lowest crime rates. but affordable they are not.
