My daughter is 15 months old. She is a very good eater and loves her juice. Occasionally, she will get a strange rash across the area above her vagina and the next diaper change there will be a red blotch. A couple of times this red blotch ends up becoming a open sore. I've tried the Johnson and Johnson Diaper rash cream (active ingred. Zinc Oxide) and Gold Bond Baby Powder. She screams and crys when I change her diaper. Once the diaper is changed she still crys for about 10 minutes max. I have tried changing diapers and taking all acidic foods and juices away from her but neither of these have really helped. I need HELP seriously!!! It breaks my heart to have her cry so hard that she makes herself sick. I don't know what I can do to help until tomorrow when I (hopefully) can get her into the Dr. Please help!!!

Sounds like we have a very sensitive lady here.
She is super sensitive and it could be due to the food she consumed. Try keep a notebook (which I am still doing today for the last 25 months) that will spell out the timing, the food she consume and mark down those days when the rashes are bad.
With this track, whenever your daughter develops rashes, flip thru the book and check out the food you gave her. If you ever suspect that some juice she drank initiate the rash, please stop it for good.

Good luck..

Well, as for causes of the blotch/sore: the first thing I would check are all of her chairs and other baby furniture. She may be rubbing her stomach there repeatedly, causing first the rash, then the blotch, then the open sore. Another cause could be that her diapers aren't fitting properly and are sagging down in the front from her moving around so much. If they aren't fitting properly, they will probably rub her there, causing the problem.

The best thing you can do for an open sore right now is to wash it with warm, soapy water and put neosporen on it. Although her sore is under her diaper, I wouldn't use diaper rash cream on it. Think about it like this: If you had an open sore on your arm or leg, would you put diaper rash cream on the sore?

I would be willing to guess that this sore is caused by some type of repeated rubbing since it occurs in that one spot (and my daughter has never had a rash there- only on her butt).

Also, when my daughter had some really bad diaper rash a couple weeks ago (she had little bloody spots on her butt) I put a tiny bit of diaper rash cream on it and she screamed and cried. It obviously hurt her to have that cream on there so I put her in the bath tub right away and washed it all off. I used some neosporen on the bloody spots and baby powder on the rest and she didn't cry. Her rash was better and gone two days later.

I had alot of problems with baby wipes. Try to wash her w/ lukewarm water under the tap or use a washcloth w/ lukewarm water. Then put some vaseline & cornstartch (make a paste) for protection.
The only time I use baby wipes was on outings. At home my baby was washed under tap every diaper change.
I hope this helps!

If her Pediatrician can't see her take her to an Urgent Care in your area or the ER.
Make sure your using unscented baby wipes, and just use plain vaseline, you may want to lay a cold(not icy cold) towel over it for a few minutes, bc every time you wipe or change the infected area, it may be a burning or stinging sensation to her.
