I had the same deal. My cat was 25+ years old (a stray) and he just walked through the open door. We didn't know what he was or how old.
But when he died this past year another cat came in our front door just like he did, and he looked exactly the same and we suspected that he was about 5 months. Now I'm tracking down what he was and what this new 1 is. My cat is black, almond shaped yellow eyed, and we very well suspect he was a Bombay cat. We read up on his personality witch was exactly the same as his, and pictures of him, which, I have to say, looked completely identical. We also have a neighbor here that knows all about cats. So if you want some help in tracking him down my email is : imjustagrlintheworld@yahoo.com

I'm very interested in your cats heritage.

I had one cat that lived to be almost 20. You are very lucky to have had him for so long! I know some cats can live to be very old--sometimes 25 or over, but it's kind of rare. Take good care of him and I hope he's around for another 20!
Yeah, I'd like to see a picture of him if you want to send it!

He is a lucky cat! I have had two live past 20, a mom and a daughter of hers. They both functioned real well til about their last half year and both remained totally wonderful, sweet, fun and loving cats to the end. From what I hear its pretty rare for male cats to make it that long, they seem more prone to kidney problems than females. These were mixed breed cats, the mom adopted us, she was a light tortoiseshell, the daughter was a long haired gray sweetheart. Anyway, cats are great, I am glad you have had your feline friend so long, and best wishes for many more happy years together.

I had a stray wander in, and we eventually tracked down the owner. We ended up keeping her, and recieved the papers from the original owner, with her date of birth etc.

25 years later, we still had AnnieBelle, which would have made her 28 at that point. She was blind, had no teeth, but the vet said she was in fantastic shape for her age. Annie lived for another 2 years, which made her 30 when she died !

I would love to see a picture of your fella ... I've had cats all my life, and I love them to pieces !!
You can contact me through here and then I'll pass along my email addy.

You are lucky. I just lost my cat of 12 years :( despite all kinds of healthy treatments. I guess just like people some live longer than others.
