A lie doesn't get the same result as you then have to carry the burden of a lie and that whatever you gained was under false pretences. Only the weak and gutless lie - those that are too cowardly to suffer the consequences of the truth.

A lie means always having to look over your shoulder. Will someone find out the real truth? Will someone expose you as a liar? lying in court is called perjury and is punishable by prison/fines. A person that lies can't be trusted. Want to trust a car salesman that is a known liar? Get caught in telling your spouse a bunch of lies and see what happens. Maybe that's why it's a commandment not to lie.

If you lie on a job application, they'll fire you. Lie on a credit app and you'll lose money. Lie in court and you go to jail. If you tell a lie, it's hard to shave well because you can't look yourself in the mirror. So now you're a poor, unemployed, ex-con, scar-face....... and you think that telling the truth gets the same result?

(1)The Truth brings Blessing.
(2)Lies bring Judgement.

(1) Matthew 15:27 - And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

(2) John 8:44 - Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Lies found out reflect on your own trustworthiness. You need to ask yourself a question. What result is worth the potential cost of a lie?

Because once the lie is discovered, you've compromised any trust people will have in you. With the truth, you don't have to remember what you've told people. The truth says constant.

When you lie (or do anything you know is wrong) it destroys the self worth. You can't fool the Self. Your self knows.

Thus, the saying: Do the right thing.

You may notice many people that do not have self worth, they'll cheat, sneak, do things behind your back.

The definition of a persons true character is:

What you do when know one is looking.
