If you haven't be in that "just friends, only" category, go ahead and man up. But don't expect too much. Some girls get weird about a guy that is a friend trying to switch to a lover. You're more like a brother to them if you're just a friend.

Depends what kind of guy you are. If you are a quieter, more sensitive type, I would just explain that you have developed feelings for her and wondered if she felt the same. If you are more outgoing, I would just cut the moves and be done with it - if you are old enough to drink, then alcohol can be a great boon in this situation.

Just because you have been friends for a while does not matter. It actually is probably better because you know her more. Like other people have said, maybe take her out somewhere or do something that you know she would enjoy and tell her.

It's too late. Once she thinks of you as a friend, you're stuck and there's nothing you can do about it. Stop being so nice, have an edge, and they'll come running. Perverse, sad, and true.

if you've been friends with her for a while, you should feel comfortable around her. if you're afraid to ask her how she feels or reveal how you feel, then ask one of her friends maybe. i would make sure she felt the same way because you ask her out, i hate rejection.

Take her out somewhere, spend the whole day with her, when you are alone together, ask. You will know when the time is right, you will feel it.

Call her and ask her to dinner and a movie. Then take it one step at a time. Waiting will only make it harder to ask. Go for it!
