I'm planning to buy a German Shepherd puppy. At what age would be the best to buy? To the point where the puppy no longer needs his parents and is able to do well in another household.

No earlier than 8 weeks old. The whole litter should stay with the mother until all are at least 8 weeks old. For German Shepherds, 10 weeks is excellent. Then socialize, socialize, socialize.

DO NOT get a puppy at anything under 8 weeks. They have not developed enough psychologically, and they require the interaction with their mother and littermatese. I would recommend 9-10 weeks.

8 to 10 weeks. And just to let you know, the longer it stays with the mother the better. Between 6 and 10 weeks the mother actually teaches them manners and they will have less agression and/or behavior problems if they are with mom during this time.

8 weeks should be the youngest but it is better to wait until 10-12 weeks.

8 weeks is the bare minimum. Don't deal with anyone who will sell them at 6 weeks.
