Some people, me included rinse some of the grains and beans to remove any dirt or dust that could be on the grains or beans. I also check the rice and beans for foreign matter. Some times there is chaff, little dirt clods and pebbles. I hope that I have been of some help.

You have to rinse the grains before cooking to get all of the dirt and dust,etc that may have come into contact with the grains while gorwin, shipping, etc.

Maybe just to make sure that any husks or other pieces of the grains that get shucked off in processing are removed.

Usually yes, and some I leave in the water for a few hours, they take less time to cook and are softer and 'creamier'.

grains is like bread...my guess not if you want soggy bread... wash fruits and veggies
