Yes, but it will spoil faster. The stories about botulism are a myth. Today's cans are made of tin, which is safe (however the food can develop a tin taste, which is undesirable). Just make sure the can is not dented, bulging or rusted.

If you're going to use it in a short period of time, it's okay. If not, put it in a plastic or glass container, to avoid an undesirable flavor.

If the food in the can will be used within 1 to 2 days and will be cooked, it's okay to store in the can in the fridge. Otherwise, you should just transfer to a plastic container.
I started using those tomato paste tubes that are packaged like toothpaste because I got so sick of saving those little cans of tomato paste in the fridge.

Yes. If you're afraid of it tasting like other stuff in the fridge, put a ziploc bag or aluminum foil over top (if it's opened).

I've always heard it was not safe to leave it in the can. So I just put it in a storage container or zip lock it.

Yes... they even make the plastic lids you can cover your cans with now... It is not like it was in the *good ol' days* when you would have had to worry about tomaine (?) poisoning.
