Just send them an "amended" tax return. I did that last year and they fixed it right away and got the correct refund (it was less). It was no problem.

Once in the mail , there is NO stopping it . . .
You did file wayyyy early so call them and advise them that you realize you made a error and ask how to correct it . . . after all, it is not due yet !

for this reason this is often sturdy to take a place interior the fairway postcard. this is greater good to forget while they're scanning in hundreds of thousands of tax returns. call the IRS and ask if your return is interior the device (nevertheless mine took 3 weeks in February to be keyed into the laptop).

You can't stop it - too late for that. You need to file an amended return. Try to do that before April 17 to avoid problems.

You don't. However, if you made a mistake simply get a form 1040X and file an amended return to correct whatever it was you bolixed up on the original return.

You file an amended return.
Call their local office, ask for the proper forms.
You made an error, obviously an (oops!!)
and they'll tell you how to handle it.
