I don't know exactly why,but my mom has a dog, he ate chocolate and human food basically his whole life, he loved chocolate and he's 16 years old now, he has no more teeth so no more chocolate for him. I don't give my dog mostly any our food, except for rise and some veggies.

Most dogs cannot have chocolate because they will die ... but some dogs are not affected by it. I do not suggest you try it to find out which ones will live though.

Before my family knew chocolate was bad our dogs always ate it... but none of them ever got sick, and none of them ever died prematurely.. all lived to be 20+ years old... so I have my doubts, but choose not to risk it.
