I have noticed recently that there are divits on my four front teeth right by the gum line. It almost looks like plaque (because they are slightly stained) but when I look closer I can see that they are actual indentations like the enamel is chipping away. The only difference in my brushing habits is that I started using the sonic brush 2x a day and I have used over the counter bleaching 2x in the past 2 years. Is this why I am losing my enamel? Are there any other possible causes for this to happen? Is there anything I can do to make them look normal again? Please advise....thanks!

Too much floride can cause something like this... alot of bottled water, etc has floride and some cities have floride in their public water supply... it is possible to get too much floride.

Another possible problem... you aren't bulimic are you? The constant throwing up can damage your enamel and is often one of the ways that people figure out that you have it, but I don't know that it would appear in divots, it would be more of an overall wearing away of the enamel, i think.

Tea wears away enamel and so does
red wine and eating lemons too often.
Also brushing too hard. If you are doing any of these things too frequently, it can cause you to lose enamel.

If you back off from your usual routine, the enamel will grow back.
