is the atmosphere like an air tank and if you add more it would let off the amount it wouldn't hold into space or can it hold alot more. can earth's gravity help the atmosphere hold more air? what would happen to people if there was alot more air in the same mixture/composition that is in already? if you have any links that would be great. thanks : )

The earth could hold more atmosphere than it now has, but increasing it in any significant way is impractical. The mass of the atmosphere is 5,136,000 billion metric tons.

The Earth can definitely hold more atmosphere as long as it is heavy like carbon dioxide, nitrogen and oxygen; however, light elements like hydrogen will eventually escape.
