Why do Evangelicals and some other right wing churches hate planet earth so much? They act like they can’t wait for planet to be blown up into hell fire and brimstone. They are completely obsessed with Armageddon and hell. Instead of trying to promote good in the world and prevent it from happening, they run around selling books revving people up. It seems like they are trying to go to the Middle East pissing people off in Palestine and other countries to promote the anger for a nuclear build up. Is it all about the money, or do they actually want every last member of the human species to burn in an everlasting hell fire? Has this been going on for a thousand years, or did it start in the last century or so?

I'm not sure what kind of Christians you have met in your lifetime, but I must say that my experience (as a Christian) has not been what you have described. We are not "excited" about the end of the world.

Perhaps you are discussing instead the notion we get all throughout the Bible and specifically in the book of I John, that we are not to love the world nor the things in the world, for he who loves the world does not have the love of the Father in him.

You see, we are reminded daily that we are but pilgrims on this Earth. This is not our home. We do not belong here. One day, we will be reconciled to God.

That is a cause for celebration and excitement, but it is not the thought of "global destruction" we are focused on. That also doesn't mean that as Christians we are allowed to damage the Earth with pollution and greed. We are to be good stewards of what has been given us to watch over.

No one should want anyone to go to Hell. The Bible tells us that God suffers NONE to die, meaning a spiritual death of eternal damnation, and therefore we should not want this either. We instead should promote love, first and foremost, to our neighbors. God bless!
