Depending on how long you have had the sore throat, I would say it is an sinus infection.

My sinus infections normally begin with a sore throat that lasts anywhere from one evening to one day. After that, drainage slows or something and the sore throat subsides, with other symptoms taking over (the facial pain/pressure, congestion, head aches).

My ENT/Allergist normally prescribes an antibiotic for this.

It could be strep throat with sinus infection, too. Sinus infection can occur from other respiratory infections. Bronchitis is likely, also, without treatment and if it doesn't go away quickly on its own. Your doctor could do a quick strep culture or just prescribe an antibiotic that would kill off bacteria that causes strep AND sinus infections.

Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.
