Consider this situation:

About a year ago, i went to a bar, and tried talking to a beautiful young lady. Was completely honest about my profession (IT support) and everything else.

I couldnt get the time of day.

About 3 months ago, i was back in the same bar and i saw her again. This time i had my glasses on, but other then that my physical description hasnt changed.

This time i tell her i am a Doctor (a neurologist), and i swear to god the woman was on me like i was a nba athlete. She dragged me back to her place and we did the deed.

Problem is now she is calling me non-stop and wants to come over to my place (which is nice but not doctor nice) and wants to go out all the time.

And while everyone at work is having a blast calling me The Doctor, i am wondering MORALLY how wrong was this?

Is it wrong to lie to a woman only interested in guys with cash?

Is it wrong to lie to a woman only interested in guys with cash? If she is that shallow, then she is getting what she deserves. Play it off as long as possible. Well done Doc.

The simple test is: A), did you know it was wrong?, and B), are you and she happier now that it has happened?

If yes on A) and no on B), then you have some serious issues to straiten out. Mostly likely, in some degree or another, it was no to both, and thus restitution is not so binding and inhibiting, but still honorable to do, and would show great character.

It is possible it was necessary for this method of learning right from wrong action was necessary for you at the time to learn at all, though it'd be better to practice foresight, for it is far kinda and wiser than only hindsight...

Strongly recommend as your remedy to this question, and all like it, to read the 4 noble truths in Buddhism, for this describes what someone of your manners, and thought, can do to begin seeing things more holistically, to know before you do.

Well it sounds like you already know that it was wrong because look at you now. If you tell one lie you have to cover it up with another now look at the mess that you're in. Never tell a lie like that (not that I condone lies) but a doctor? You could have come up with something better than that. Morally yes you were dead wrong. And althought it shows how shallow she, she still fell for you because of a lie and not who you really are and that can't make you feel to good to have to lie to make yourself look better. If a woman can't except you for you then forget her.

I don't know what to tell you to do next but since you're into telling lies tell her that you're not really a doctor and that you were doing an experiment about women who go for men with sucessful careers. I at least hope that it was good since oyu went through all the trouble.

Well, she's still a person... and you're still lying to her whether she's a gold digger or not. Maybe she's interested in doctors because they help people or maybe you're just too focused on lying about your profession that you forget to get to know her. My point: lying=bad

White lies are ok, they don't hurt anyone. I don't think it's right to lie about your job etc. If a girl is only interested in you because of the job you hold, then she isn't the type of girl for you.

that's wrong. and not just because of the lying, but because you picked being a doctor. what if she gets sick or hurts herself? she's gonna expect you to help her and you don't know jack about health care! you shoulda told her you're an architect.
