All of the suggestions given before are good, but there's one technique you might try....Right click on "My Computer", then click on "Properties". Now click on the "Hardware" tab, and then on "Device Manager". Once you're there, locate your CD drive and right click on it...and choose "Uninstall". Once that's done, exit from there and reboot the computer. When it boots up into Windows, it will see the drive as "New Hardware" and reinstall the correct driver for it. Now try a CD in the drive to see if it works. If not, and you've tried the other tips given, then chances are you'll need to replace the drive. Hope this helps.

Clearing ur drive wouldnt make any difference.Try reinstalling ur Cd-rom drive cuz it might be corrupted or damaged. IF after doing that it still doesnt work,it might be a hardware problem so if thats the case u need to get it replaced. Cheers!

All you can really do is make sure all the cables on the back of the CD-rom on the inside of the computer are seated properly and that the lens on the CD drive is clean.

To clean the lens, you need to go out and buy a CD cleaner kit for any cd player.
