I would recommend using a dandruff shampoo such as Head and Shoulders. Often dandruff is caused by an oily scalp so it works well. Also make sure that you have a good diet and drink plenty of water. An oily scalp could be due to your age if you are a teenager, or it could just be the way your scalp is like me. Do not be afraid to condition your hair, just be sure you only apply conditioner to the ENDS of your hair away from the scalp. Also buy a couple of kinds of shampoo and alternate every week. That way you will prevent buildup.

Here are some tips on oily hair prevention and resolution:

The most important thing you can do to prevent or resolve oily hair is to shampoo your hair daily. For people who tend to have a problem with oily hair, leaving the shampoo on your head for at least 5 minutes before rinsing may help.
Avoid brushing your hair too often or too vigorously, since the brushing will carry oil from your scalp to the ends of your hair.
Hormones affect oil production and therefore things that affect your hormone levels (such as stress or birth control pills) may also affect the oiliness of your hair.

Just use shampoo like regular. Wash, and repeat.

Don't wash your hair too often, it can damage your hair.

All the oils in your hair are probably just natural oils. No worries. The oils just make your hair grow faster. I know it may feel greasy and stuff at times but I'd rather have my hair oily than really dry. :)

You don't have to use conditioner if you don't want to. It's just to untangle your hair and make it slick and stuff.

Hope that helps.

Clarifying means it strips excess products. So it's stripping your natural moisture and oils which are needed to maintain a balanced acid mantle.Try an acid balanced shampoo and separate conditioner. Conditioners lower th ph to a normal state. Without it your scalp will produce more oil to balance itself. The same goes for your facial skin. Be sure to rinse really well when you shampoo and condition. Try a leavein conditioner for better control.

If you are a teen, your body is probably producing alot of oil. If you use a conditioner do not apply to the roots. Go to a salon and invest in a professional shampoo. If you comb or brush your hair alot or running your hands in it you are adding to the problem. Try rinsing your hair with a mixture of half vinegar and water or beer.

If I were you, I'd find a shampoo and matching conditioner for YOUR hair type. You should always condition to prevent breaking of your hair. I used to have very oily hair, but I started using head and shoulders and a conditioner made for my hair type and it helped me tremendously. remember to ring the water out of your hair before you put conditioner on it. rinse with warm water and then run cool water over it. stay away from styling products that add oil to your hair. natural oils are okay for your hair and are actually a sign of good health.

you may want to make a trip to ULTA. they have great people there who will help you find a shampoo that's great for your hair type (oily). there is a salon in the back and they are great about recommending something for you.

however, just off the top of my hair you may want to check out some shampoos that aren't very lathery, but more mild and organic. try: mop c, abba, or hemp. those are all organic lines that are amazing and leave your hair feelings and looking sooo clean and fresh. i love them!

good luck hon!

i recommend you still condition your hair. buy shampoo/conditioner (sunsilk is the best range) that suits your hair type, like an oily hair one.

drink plenty of water, and eat lots of fruit and veg if u dont already do so.

if your in a hurry and need ur hair to look less oily, try putting some powder in it (works best if your blonde) i use talc powder and just shake a little in my hair and it absorbs the oil. a quick fix if you dont have time to wash ur hair!

I had very oily hair but it stopped because I started to use Garnier Fructice Anti Dandruff shampoo w/out conditioner. Even if you don't have dandruff it helps take away oils that cause dandruff and other oils too. Well, I hope that works for you like it did for me. Good Luck! :) !
