Is it an acid or base? Do I use Soda or Vinegar to neutralize? In need a household remedy. It doesn't burn, it is just itchy and soap doesn't do much.

Please don't guess.

ok, people. Let's also stay in the real world. It is a skin irritation. I've had drain cleaner on my skin before. I know you can use vinegar or soda, I just can't remember which. I'm not going to the ER. Please.

Soda. The easiest thing is plain old water... take a shower and get the stuff off your skin.

It really depends on the brand you are using. I wouldn't recommend using vinegar or soda I would go with a 10 minute cool water rinse and then rinse with alcohol. and fresh water again then apply some sort of moisturizing lotion. Soda and or vinegar mixed with some drain cleaners can become caustic and cause severe chemical burns even though you can't see the reaction immediately. Aloe works pretty good on these type irritations also.

Not sure about that. I would try one and if it didn't work, try the other. LOL One way you'll get it, maybe. I wish I could tell you something to help. I do know you would be waisting time and money going to the E.R. It's not like your skin is falling off!! LOL I would probably try the soda first. That seams like the best choice. Just don't put any lotion or oils on there so your skin can get plenty of air. It could also cause the chemical to stay in your skin and cause chemical burn. You probably already know that, though. Good Luck!!

I did a search on Google. The best that I could find said to rinse with water (COLD) for 15 minutes, call poison control and follow further directions from them. Personally, I would rinse and go to the ER..... Good Luck

The answer should be on the label of the container. With no information about the specific agent, flush the area with water for at least ten minutes! ER if anything doesn't look right.

Most drain cleaner is an Alkali, but not all. Use running water to dilute the product that is the safest home remedy.

You need to go to ER and get this treated. This could turn into a nasty chemical burn, Call ER or posion control then do as they tell you.

You should call your local poison control. Tell them the product name and they can tell you what to use, no guessing and no games.
