How can i protect my car cd player from overheating and dying on me?

Last year i bought a Sony Xplod car cd/mp3 player. during the hot days of last summer, it totally died on me. The radio would work fine, but it would not read cds anymore no matter what i tried (lens cleaner, air blower, etc).

How can i protect my mp3 player from dying again? Is there any mp3 players that anyone can recommend that will do well against the summer heat?

Make sure you have a good ground connection. Turn off bass boost or loudness settings. Make sure you're not connected to too low a speaker impedance.

The best way to keep the head unit cool is to buy a separate amplifier to run your speakers. The CD player won't get hot if it doesn't have to use the internal amplifier, and component amps are designed to get rid of extra heat and can be mounted in locations with better ventilation.

hi. car cd players hate heat and thats all there is to it. i assume you have ac in the car. the best thing you can do to prolong the players life is start the car up and drive for a few minutes with tha ac on. when you get comfortable, the cd player will be comfortable too. if you hate driving in silence listen to the radio for a few minutes. unfortunately, as the player ages, the optical pickup becomes more sensitive to high temperatures. in my opinion the units using pioneer optical pickups are somewhat less sensitive to heat. this comes from someone who did repairs in bakersfield, calif for over 20 years. i also do work in alaska where those optical pickups seem to last forever. heat is the worst enemy of electronic equipment of any kind. of course like many private airplanes, you could "fan" the area behind the dash but for what it would cost, you could buy several very nice cd players. good luck.

Get rid of that Sony, nothing but problems. Look into getting either an Alpine or an Eclipse both work in all types of weather. And both offer MP3 players. Another good idea is to add a cooling fan in your dash, you can find these small cooling fans at Radio Shack.

Not sure, type of vehicle you are driving so my reply will be general.

Did You;
1, over played your CD on it & it went dead?
If it’s less then 2hrs, do send in your HD to the service centre.
Check your inner Dashboard environment if it above your HD’s operating Temp (Apply while Driving).
or
2, try changing the disc to identify if it’s the Disc or HD issue?
Its normal for disc to over heat after long hours of play (Apply while Driving).
or
3, You parked your car under Hot Sun (Oven) & during drive off CD is not in operation condition?
Place a Sun Shade on your windscreen & leave a gap on your window to allow hot air to escape.

There are also a few other option.
1, Relocate your CD player to a lower drawer (Away from the Dashboard)
(or with Aircon outlet above).
2, Install Heat Shield above the HD (Internally), best if you are able to locate where heat source come from, only if you are driving & CD went dead on you..
3, Install a Disc changer.

Cars suffer extremes of heat, cold, dust and vibration... a no-man's land for delicate electromechanical gadgets.

Since your unit is blown anyway, it's time to go all-solid-state. Get a radio that talks to an iPod, get an iPod Nano or other flash-based player. Bonus: you can take it out of the car for security, use it at the gym, etc.

You can have a fan installed like on the PC's that will only come on at a designated temperature.You may also want tp park your vehicle in shaded areas.Leave your window open a crack, not enough to be seen easily.You can also get one of those fold up sunshields that get placed in the windshield and or back window.Keep cool man!!!

um buy a new one i guess, Xplod is supposed to be good so i dont know why you are having problems my fiancee has one we live in arizona and he didnt have a/c in his old car and he never had a problem with it maybe it was the deck you bought take it into a system store and see if they can direct you in the right way because any answers you get here are going to be opinions i suggest you talk to someone who is specialized in it good luck

automobile seats artwork actual good. surprisingly in case you strap the youngster in. on the different hand you are able to tell them to no longer positioned income there. If that would not artwork, a wood spoon or belt would properly be utilized to offer them a spanking. That one works good.
