Horse Playing or " just horsing around" usually means that the people invoved were physically or verbally playing with each other. Even though it may appear that they were serious at the time.
It probably stems from the behavior of young male horses, who do ritual pushing and shoving when they are maturing, in order to establish supremacy.

similar to what a hore does and thats where it gets its name frome.

Horse Playing means just playing around with one another. Not being serious, just joking around
