I know that this is a behavioral problem such as dominance, but I would have never thought that he would penetrate him in the rear end! I feel soo bad for my Dachsund. Is it normal for a male dog to penetrate a male dog rectally? I am getting an appt for him to be neutered, but not sure it will help him. I don't see him trying to dominate my dachsund and when he does it, it's when my poor dachsund is outside going potty. I am soo frustrated about this. Please help.

Once he is neutered, that should help a lot. And you're right. It is a dominance thing and the best thing to do is keep discouraging him when he does that. You may have to physically take him away from the doxie when he is mounting.

Get him neutered ASAP. It should stop the behavior completely, unless you wait and let it become a habit (then you may never be able to break the dog of doing it).

Neutering him should remove the hormonal influence, and (ideally) stop the behavior. He may always try to show dominance, but hopefully it won't go so far!

How about taking a newspaper wrap it up and bang it on your hand. Or use a squirt bottle every time the one dog tries to mount. So he will learn that he can not do that.

getting him nuetered should really help the problem. After getting my dog neutered the only thing he tries to hump anymore is his bed. he's a weirdo.

well until the appt. dont have the two dogs outside at the same time so you can stop that. (for now)
