Both.

It depends on the usage...

The sight of those pig guts spilling out over the factory floor made Fred feel nauseated enough to throw up.

I was feeling really off kilter--nauseous and dizzy with a splitting headache.

It's the difference between describing the condition, and having it.

Hello, both adjectives are used, depending on what you want to express.
"Nauseous" is when you feel or experience nausea or disgust, for example :She felt nauseous and weak.

"Nauseated" could be used when we refer to anything that causes/smells/etc. nausea. You can say: a nauseated person; nauseating food, etc.

Hope that helps!
Have a great day!

Appropriateness depends on how it is used.

"Nauseous" to describe a state of being, it could stand by itself as an adjective.

"Nauseated" to describe a state of being that is usually followed by further explanation, "nauseated by what/whom?"

They both are; there is some difference. "Nauseated" refers to an event or condition that causes or caused nausea. "Nauseous" describes having nausea.
