Having taken a class in professional writing, which included letters, you don't indent the paragraphs.

Indenting paragraphs is a matter of choice. It is called a letter "style". Some people prefer not to, some do.

There are many letter styles.

Some company's have a standardized letter style, i.e., some format they want all employees to follow when writing on behalf of the company.

Otherwise, it is entirely up to you.

It depends on the kind of letter you are writing. Assuming you are writing a business letter (because you are in your office), you would not normally indent the paragraphs but rather put spaces between them.

When writing a letter, indenting is not necessary. But you need to be sure to double space between paragraphs. If you are writing an essay or paper, you need to indent.

You used to indent the paragraphs, but for some years now (probably since the advent of computers over typewriters), correct form dictates that you do not indent.

Business letters are always typed in block form (not indented), personal correspondence is personal preference.

If it is a business letter, you don't indent. If it is a personal letter, it is optional. What is most important, though, is to be consistent. You indent them all or you don't indent any.

Unless things have drastically changed, it is proper to indent.
