but you know this will not happen..its too much money spent on the illegal drugs and the prescription drugs...so why would anyone kill the cash cow that makes more money then the Fortune 500 combined..?? and they don't have to pay no stinking taxes on this income???
sorry, you could kill all the drug users and the pushers and the problem would not go away...although i do like this idea a lot..it won't happen..guess we will just have to stay clean ourselves and watch this country go to hell in a hand-basket

Why would you put addicts in prison? think about it. They are only trying to relieve stress. You realize that many of the people that take drugs are dealing with problems in their life that cannot be solved. The people who are addicted want to quit, but they are enslaved by the chemical! why would you punish that??? it is a medical problem not a criminal problem!
The motivation to take the drugs is the same motivation that people who drink have. maybe we should also give them prison sentences for drinking alcohol! Why would you lock them up with murderers and child rapists? they should be given rehabilitation, not sent to a prison cell, where they go into the horrible withdrawal symptoms that are much worse than the symptoms of the common flu! Not to mention that withdrawal from heroin can kill you! what's wrong with you? have you no soul? no empathy for others? You are a fascist.
-You realize that our economy depends on the drug money that is generated by the trafficking that the CIA does! The CIA is the source of most of the cocaine that is imported here.

Taking illegal drugs is a crime. In fact taking legal drugs that were not prescribed for you is also a crime. Punishment within the legal terms is not as severe as selling drugs...the logic is that help to beat the addiction is what is needed most. In reality, when the addiction progresses from help lacking ...or not being taken seriously when it is inistututed.....it usually leads to the drug seeker braking the law.....and then the amount of prison time increases. And it's just a downhill coarse.

Not sure what you mean. Are you referring to all of those who take any type of drugs(ie prescription and illegal) or are you only talking about those who take illegal drugs?
Either way, even though the government has determined that illegal drug use is just that, illegal, they have determined that the penalties aren't that severe. That still makes them illegal, so there is a law. Now the penalties for dealing and importing are much more severe and are designed to cut off the flow to the US. Unfortunately the demand is so high that it really doesn't matter what the penalties are there will always be a market and there will always be those who are willing to break the law to bring them in.

The prisons are already bursting at the seams... violent criminals are being released early to make room for pot dealers! If everyone who every did something 'illegal' was thrown in the slammer the rest of the population would be working as prison guards.
If people would just learn to mind their own business and not try to enforce their ideas of what is right on other people... we wouldn't have so many silly laws to enforce. If anything we need less so that more time and effort can be spent enforcing the ones that matter!

Your right, the numbers are higher, and if they are anything like me,(ive never been caught and put in jail) If They are smarter than the average addict. Then again,i allowed to let myself get caught in a test(I was good at beating them on a moments notice)by my choice, because I knew I would return to them, the consequences eventually come.
To make the choice to live and stay sober cost me my job,my wife(weve reconciled and after a lot of hard work and suffering i got my career back) and a lot of money...it was worth it but whether they get caught or not doesnt matter....it will all catch up to them one day,its how they choose to pay the piper

No it shouldn't be a crime, just like ingesting alcohol or smoking tabacco or prescription drugs such as oxycotin (all highly addiction substances).
One shouldn't legislate morality. Do you realize how much of yur tax dollars are being spend on keeping people in prison for quality of life crimes like drugs? Also addiction is a disease not a crime and should be treated as so.

There are drug laws. Federal and in most (if not all) states.
In fact, a very large percentage of people currently in prison are there for nothing more than putting chemicals in their bodies that they government doesn't approve.

because they know people are going to do them regardless of the consequences plain and simple. In most cases Murder 1 or pre-meditated murder is punishable by life imprisonment without the possibility of parole or the death penalty, and I don't see the murder rate going down anytime soon.
