I was told that the hat, gloves and purse should match. What about the shoes?
Do I take the gloves off while I eat? If so, where do I put them? Is there anything else I need to know?

This is my Mops group. It's for fun. It's not a stressful situation. Everyone else will be clueless too. It's fun to step out of your comfort zone once in awhile. Tomorrow night I am going to an 80's themed bunco party. Wow what a difference!

Shoes should match the purse. When I was little, it was customary for women to wear white gloves when going to functions. I supposed matching gloves with the purse and shoes is easy enough. (Can dye white gloves - if you can find them.)
The hat should integrate with the outfit. For example, if you are wearing pink shoes, purse, gloves (or white gloves) then the hat should incorporate these colours, it is difficult to match a hat perfectly. White hat, pink silk flowers. Pink hat, white flowers (or whatever). You can add these yourself easily.
Gloves are taken off prior to eating. Seat yourselves. Remove the gloves and place them in your purse, or on your lap. Never the table.
Have fun. Wish I was there!

What fun. Yes you should take off your gloves when you eat. Put them in your purse! It's nice if your entire outfit is coordinated, but if you don't have the money or the desire to go out and spend a bunch of money on things you may never wear again, do your best.
Our bible study group goes to tea every year. Not everyone wears hats, in fact hardly anyone did last time. But it's lots of fun when you do. I hope you have a great time!

A: of course, but remember that your purse and shoes do not have to match, they just have to go with your dress.
B: it depends on how formal the tea is. See what others are doing around you and follow suit.
C: if you remove your gloves, fold them neatly into your purse for safe keeping.
D: have fun!

The shoes should match, it doesn't have to be matchy-matchy though. The shoe and purse should be in a similar fabric and style, the hat should match the purse in color and the dress in style, the gloves should match the material in the hat. You should take the gloves off to eat so they don't get dirty, when you do put them in your purse.

yes shoes should have some matching characteristics for your outfit, take your gloves off, lay them on top of your purse, your napkin goes in your lap, NEVER rest your arms on the table, eat slow and with your mouth closed, sip your beverage, place it to the right side of the top of your plate, Or have a relaxing and comfortable day and stay home or go to the corner pub and hang out with some real folks.

Um, is this a costume party? No one wears gloves anymore! If you do go in 'costume', you can put the gloves in your purse or on your lap. I would think the shoes should coordinate, but not match exactly.
