Yes. it (iron) can damage your hair and No there is nothing out there that will not cause some kind of damage. Chemicals change the structure of your hair and will cause some damage. The flat iron everyday is not great for your hair either. If you are going to use the iron every day make sure you get it trimmed regularly and condition it with a good conditioner that has moisture and protein in it. Your stylist can recommend one.

Hi...

I too have very kinky curly hair, and use a straightener often. Like everyday....

There is no way to straighten your hair without damage, the iron will provide you with the lesser of the evils. Just don't use the highest heat setting, use one that will work for your hair type...and try to iron that strand of hair once, when you double the amount of heat applied, and so on...it does eventually lead to hair damage, but then...most things we use on our hair causes damage.

I used to iron my hair 2! It will eventually damage it and u will have to get ur hair cut very short to restore ur healthy hair. You should get a straightener, one that is ceramic and is rounded on the ends is best. I have a chi, they are expensive but work really well. And when u start straightening it get a cream that protects from the heat!!

I've been straightening my hair for years. There are some products you can use before, but I've found they can leave your hair feeling stiff.

You need to get your hair trimmed more often if you straighten it, since it leads to more split ends.

I also wash my hair at night and straighten it in the morning. This avoids damage from a blowdryer and allows the oil in your hair to work its way through.

Yes, there are ways to straighten your hair without damaging it.

1. When ever you straighten it use heat protection(usually found in drugstores or chi has good hair line products)

2. Condition ur hair every nite

Hope this helps

yes, it will damage your hair. but you can use certain treatments available in many stores to help reduce this, however you will get split ends, but a trim every now and then will take care of that! you can also buy ceramic hair straighteners which are a lot better. Also using a protective spray against heat damage would help. I know kenra has a product to protect against heat damage. Hope this helps!

You can buy a ceramic straightener and/or buy serum or spray that protects your hair when you straighten it. Usually sally beauty salon has good hair products. That's where I buy mine. I have wavy hair and i straighten it most of the time. something heat activated should work. But if your hair is so curly, you should blowdry it first. That makes it a bit easier to straighten.

yes the flat irons can sometimes reach around 400 degrees. if you use them please be using a professional hair care product made specifically for straightening. they really do work, but you will need to get regular reconstructors to help replenish lost moisture and protein that is weakend during the straightening process. you may want to consider a chemical straightener to allow you less time with the flat iron. make sure you are running it thru your hair quickly.

It will damage your hair if you do it everyday. To keep damage to a minimum try to use an ionic or ceramic flat iron and make SURE to use a good product to protect your hair!

as using an iron works well, it can damage your hair severely. i would use a chi and use the chi products, talk to someone at a hair salon and ask which chi product will work for heat damage, but only use chi products is you are using a chi straightener.
