It is written, Jesus said His sheep know His voice. Read that scripture about the Good Shepherd out loud, in the Spirit. Faith comes by hearing and hearing a Word about Christ / God.

The voice of the Spirit can be a quiet inner voice. Gentle... In Revelation, the voice of the Lord was like a sound of a trumpet. So, it is spiritually discerned by the confirmation of the Holy Spirit in your inner man. The Holy Spirit teaches you truth (never contradicts the Holy Bible) is the Spirit of truth, the anointing given to all born of God. 1 John 2:27. Confirms the voice of the Good Shepherd in your spirit. Confirms the voice of Father God.

Also, you need to listen with your spiritual ears.

Also, gives the gift of discernment to discern the crafty enemy of our souls.

Gobbledegook. Balderdash.
The only voices you may hear in your head are your own thoughts.
There is no god out there. To believe so is mere delusion brought about by indoctrination as a child.
Hey! I just heard a voice in my head. It was telling me to go make coffee. Must have been god? Not a chance.
Mark Chapman, a Born-Again Christian, heard voices in his head, telling him to go and murder John Lennon. Major delusion. It was his own jealousy at the root of it all. Envy is a sin?
What do you mean 'and saved'? Art thou holier than I? Must be very comforting but do realise that that is all it is - a comforting thought in your mind and nothing else.
God is imaginary. A concept dreamed up by man - and you have fallen for the confidence trick.
Reality beckons. Freedom is calling you. Choose wisely.

Here is my suggestion: pray and read the Bible everyday. Ask for God's guidence in whatever you are dealing with. As the Bible says: God speaks in a whisper. Be prepared, and alert for what he has to say. In a relationship, you not only speak, but you listen also, therefore your relationship with God must be the same. The Bible is God's Word, that should be your rock. He can speak through the Bible: open you to passages that can guide you. He can also speak through people: i've learned not just through other believers but also through secular believers. He can also speak through situations: for example if you have a big decision and you need to choose a college, lets say, you may be accepted to only one of those colleges. Thats a God thing.

There are also spiritual disciplines that you can get involved in to strengthen your relationship with Christ, Service- serving others, Silence and Solitude: making a conscience effort to say as little as possible and listen, and then isolating yourself from your busy life to listen to God everyday, Fasting: which shows that spiritual body is more important then the physical one... I hope this helps you! I will be praying for you also :-)

The Lord speaks the Word. The Holy Spirit is GOD. Jesus is GOD. Jesus is the written Word fulfilled. Jesus is the living Word.

If the voice you hear tells you to do something against the word of GOD it is demonic.
GOD's spiritual voice to the christian is a gentle Whisper

A demonic voice is easy to hear for it calls to the mind not the spirit.

I believe that I have heard from God, but it was not an audible voice. It's hard to describe, but I was worshiping Him, and all of a sudden I sensed a change within me, sort of like when I first received the Holy Spirit. Then I received these thoughts, and it was as though they were coming from within me, yet from without as well. Sort of like they appeared in my mind like breaths of air or lights coming on, but I couldn't see any light. It was very strange, but what the thoughts "said," was: "Slow down," and, "Be very gentle with people." It was clear as day, but no sound associated with it. The communication wasn't through words, either, but more like "awareness" dropped into my consciousness.

Once a person is saved, is he always saved?

Jude 5, RS: “I desire to remind you, though you were once for all fully informed, that he who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.” (Italics added.)

Matt. 24:13, RS: “He who endures to the end will be saved.” (So a person’s final salvation is not determined at the moment that he begins to put faith in Jesus.)

Phil. 2:12, RS: “As you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” (This was addressed to “the saints,” or holy ones, at Philippi, as stated in Philippians 1:1. Paul urged them not to be overly confident but to realize that their final salvation was not yet assured.)

Heb. 10:26, 27, RS: “If we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire which will consume the adversaries.” (Thus the Bible does not go along with the idea that no matter what sins a person may commit after he is “saved” he will not lose his salvation. It encourages faithfulness. See also Hebrews 6:4-6, where it is shown that even a person anointed with holy spirit can lose his hope of salvation.)

what kind of voice do you suppose to hear? God speaks to you in different ways, not directly (only some healers have that special gift). God speaks to you through people, through the bible, through a song, sometimes a little voice in your head that will tell you , no this is wrong, or yes this is right.

I don't think there's a voice that you hear - like with your ears. God isn't a radio frequency that you can tune into, minus the occassional static.

When God talks - there is a quickening, a movement inside your soul. That's the closest way I can think to describe it.

When you end all thought and all feeling, the only voice that remains is the voice that you call God.
