What you're doing is fantastic and you should be proud of yourself. I would do any zany thing too. It's worth it. Especially when you make them laugh so hard they get the hiccups!

My children will be looking bored and I will surprise them with a silly sound, or I'll start acting like an animal. They get a kick out of it! Also, I'll turn on the radio and just start running around the house. The kids love that. My home is very open, it has two doors that lead to every room. I'll walk around and open all the doors, make sure no toys are on the floor...and they'll take off running after me. We run until we are tired. I know my neighbors must think we are nuts! lol
Also, we play hide and seek at night time with the flashlights.
They love that and laugh when I find them or they find me.

I have a 6-yr old girl and a 17-month old boy. Sometimes I just get down on the floor and let them roll over me. True I get hair pulled out by my son, but it's worth it to make him happy. He also really likes to dance so I put in some up beat jazzy music and dance around the house with him. My daughter is easy to amuse. When my son is taking a nap, my daughter and I take some of my clothes, shoes, and old jewelry and play dress up. Of course she is always the princess and I am the wicked old witch...LOL.

My husband and I make silly sounds and "eat" them on the belly. We do horse rides, we do anything. My husband used to work for an oilfield medic company and had to defecate in a box one day (lack of latrines on the worksite) and my son thought that was hilarious. We tell jokes...my son likes to tell them too. My daughter has the best sense of humour too.
I have yet to jump into a pool fully clad...

Oh, we dance funny. Sing loud. Talk crazy. Tickle them silly. Build forts and camp out. Eat my food in a crazy way. We play catch and I let the ball hit me and I fall over. Oh the list goes on and on and on.......
You know what? I'm constantly doing something silly. It's a wonder I actually still know how to act like a grown up.

I love that you go out of your way to make your kids laugh! I have a 7 year old boy, so I try to put my mind at his level & think of what him & his buddies find funny. At his age, he thinks "potty words" are hilarious. So yes, I throw the occasional potty word into conversation when he least expects it. It throws him into a laughing tizzy and I love it! OK, call me a bad mom for using potty words (not swear words, just silly words). He knows when to be silly and when potty words are not appropriate!

My husband tells my five month old daughter that pickles can be orange or green if you use orange colored sunglasses. He can tell her anything in a silly voice and it makes her laugh. Just being your silly self makes any little one laugh!! Being a parent is great isn't it??!!! :)

when my 8yr old is having a bad day, I feign things in my day that are bad but actually humourous..for example he knows all the ladies at my office so I might say something like sheila took the last donut and left me a crumb..i manage to get a slight giggle out of him or I tell him my boss made me type over my report, he then pats me on my shoulder and starts trying to cheer me up.

I don't have children, but i do have a three year old niece. I play the belly game with her ( blow on it) and the spider game. (my hand bites her legs). I think you have a more positive relationship with your children when you have fun with them. Also, they will always have an open relationship with you if there not scared of you. In my opinion, parents should be more like you.
