I feel like I could customize it to my needs better if I bought different products, and besides, I always run out of shampoo first. But if it really does make a difference to have a matching set I would do it.

They always tell you on the back "follow with ~~~~ conditioner for best results." Are they just trying to make money?

The reason they say to follow with the same conditioner, is that the same chemicals are based in them, your hair gets adjusted and used to certain chemicals over time, if you use a different shampoo and conditioner product, you will find that your hair will become dry, due to the different chemicals used.. Pantene is the best shampoo and conditioner combo that I have come across, worked in conjunction with each-other, they actually rejuvenate hair.. Also try buying a bigger bottle of Shampoo and a smaller one of conditioner..
Another suggestion would be to buy a 2-in-1, Turning Point is a good product and not expensive, and you get the benefits of having both shampoo and conditioner in one bottle..

In my personal experience, it doesn't matter which shampoo you use as long as you have a really good conditioner. Once, I was out of shampoo (discovered after I wet the hair) so I had to wash it with dish liquid. Dried it right out but the conditioner fixed it right up (and the dish liquid clarified the hair). Came out better than the shampoo and conditioner combo!

Go ahead and customize away girl !!
The companies are just trying to maximize their profits.
Find the individual products that work best for you.
But, if you are uncertain which product you can go a little cheaper on & which one to spend a little more on....

My advice : Splurge on the conditioner !!!!

: )

I'm pretty sure it does because that is how soem people get dandriff or rweally frizzy hair by not using the same shampoo and such, but your not suppost to use each brand for like more then a week or your hair could get seirous damage and be really REALLY ugly. -_-
