Sorry to hear about your situation! There are a few things you can do but the first would be to run any anti-virus program you have. Also if you can get to a search engine like Yahoo, type in "spydawn virus" and I'm sure something will come up on how to remove it or at least some use full info on it. If that does not find it then try and roll- back your computer with the system restore XP has. Follow this procedure: start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore. Pick a date that your PC was working good. If that still does not work then when you boot up your before the windows logo press the F8 key. This will get you into a command prompt type of menu. One of the options will be "Last Known Good Configuration". By choosing this your PC will be brought back to the last known good state your computer was in. Hope this was of some help.

Your computer has been hijacked by SpyDawn. this is a very dangerus hijacker now-a-days and can damage your computer.

If your computer has been infected with SpyDawn and hijacked by the http://spydawn.com/ then your computer is in a real danger because it does transfer back and forth information from the infected computer which makes it a potential for data theft.

SpyDawn Symptoms:-

User's homepage is changed to pestcapture.com or iesafetywarning.net or to other unfamiliar websites.
Warning messages such as "Virus Alert", "Your Computer is Infected", "Security Alert" Trojan-Spy.win32@mx or Spyware.Cyberlog-X infections are displayed.

Automatic download and installation of a rogue antispyware product. Presence of blinking icons next to computer clock. The icons can generate balloon messages claiming infection. The icons usually looks like a circle with a (?) or a 'danger' triangle with an exclamation mark inside.

I got all the information about this spyware from the below link and there you can also remove it by using the manual and automatic process,

You probably downloaded SpyDawn accidentally when you thought you were getting a video codec or some freeware.

You can get a good free scanner with the GooglePack here:

If you cannot solve the problem with free spyware scanners, I would try out XoftspySE. I had major spyware issues recently, and XoftspySE did what the free scanners could not. It returned my computer back to its old self and cleaned all of the garbage out.

You can get more information about SpyDawn and get a free scan here:

Go to www.grisoft.com, and download AVG antivirus. Install it in safe mode, and run it. I just fixed my friend's computer that had 115 Trojans and Viruses!! Worked like a dream, and it's free.
