This salontried to chargeme 50 bucks extra to raid my hair because they said it's long for a black girl...I don't think that's fair..so that's why I'm asking..to see what is considered average.

It all depends! Some Black women have natural hair - some of them cut it really short, and others let it grow out into an afro. Some Black women grow their hair into dreadlocks - they let it grow long and they wind the hair into long locks - depending on how long they've had locks, they can grow their dreads down to their waists. Many Black women cornrow their hair - twist the hairs together into many small, long, neatly styled braids. Some of those women have hair down to their waists, others only have the cornrows on their scalps. Many Black women have their hair permed and relaxed - some of them keep their straightened hair very short, others have it grow down to their waists. Many of the women with relaxed hair and many of the women with cornrows have hair extensions added to their hair.

Bottom line, Black women's hair is all over the map - so it's hard to pick out an "average" length of Black women's hair.

Depends on the person, because everybody is different so hair length varies like any race. Some black women have naturally long hair to their mid-back, while some have shoulder length hair, or short/pixie length hair. On average black women have medium length hair to the shoulders. But the price at the salon is fair, because usually hairstylist charge more if your hair is longer and thicker because it takes more time and use more products.

It is fair..and relatively cheap. I worked in a salon and it was a dollar a braid!

Hair prices are based on hair length, longer hair equals longer time to braid. Its the same thing with hair color, thats why you usually don't see a price list in most salons, because they can't set a "set rate" on all heads. Each head is different.

As far as your question goes, average length? Well, there is no average, I have worked on black girls that have never had any chemicals used on their hair and they had hair down in the middle of their backs, I used to wash, dry and iron their hair. And then we've had some that have had so much done to their heads that they had hardly any hair...lots of breakage, even bald spots, but they kept on having the weaves added, or wanted the chemicals used....

So..there isn't really anyway to answer your question....

I shall share this with you for I am Nubian African black or ebony! which ever one you prefer.
your question is not racial at all - A very good question in fact!

without chemicals hair grows down the back always very think and course oh and oh so beautiful for WE have one of a kind lock (hair)!
once they begin to perm the hair thins and by damaging it so very much you must constantly cut! and this is why the perception is high that we have no hair or can grow only very little and the black mans hair grows faster and longer than ours and this is because they never damage the hair from perms fake hair or braids which causes great harm!
P.S. I have dreadlocks

im not black r anything but its not really common to see black women with long hair. its because they use chemicals alot. i mean their are black women with dreads and their hair grow vry long to their butt and all. have 1 black friend who i gave indan har care tips and her hair manage to grow pass her butt. so it is possible for a black women to have long hair.

most black girls have shoulder length, it could grow longer but its fragile and breaks off easily, you have to take good care of it to be long, you either have good genes or take excellent care of your hair.

Um...Not very long.
My hair is a few inches down my back, which is long-ish.
It's really hard for African Americans to grow their hair because we treat it with chemicals a lot and that causes it to break. I'd say average is to the shoulder...But I dunno. It varies A LOT.
