Well, there are grandparents out there that try to get custody of their grandkids all the time. I don't think religion has anything to do with it, just that they feel they can raise the child better. The odds of her getting custody would be very small as long as you are a good mom and provide for your child - and especially not if she is unstable and incompetent.

i get the feeling that you left out some important details. some parents are bad news for their kids. you might be one of them but you didnt fully explain the real motivation of your mother. what is it that she thinks is so bad for her grand child. i have a grandson and even though I wish his mother was a Christian, I would not try to take her child away, she is a good mother, she just isn't a spiritual mother. I can always show him the Spiritual side and I do, be sure. I love the child and will tell him about Jesus until the day I die and go to Heaven. I don't have to steal him to do that.

How can a true Christian saved by the grace of God and living in His will be unfit? and Just because someone isn't saved doesn't mean they are bad people. There will be plenty of good people in hell, just some hotter than others. If you are the "pagan" daughter, your son is yours to raise, no one else's. This sounds like a family dispute gone wrong. I hope you reach a decision that is best for the child.
God Bless and Good luck

Wha?! Oh . . . Well, she legally can't. Parents choose what faith if any the child is raised in. Grandparents get no say over the parent's decision legally. Let cry and rant all she wants. No court will take custody away from you on that issue. Good luck.

your mother has no right whatsoever (legal or moral) to take away your son, especially if you can take care of him. your mother is being absurd and frankly a little bit fundamentalist.
she may not get sent to jail but she won't get away with it if she tries, as it is kidnapping.
i do suggest you try to do something to lessen the fundamentalist tendencies of your mother though.

of course not. she'd be laughed out of any court, I'm sure, holy doodle, since when do people think you shouldn't be allowed to have children for not believing in any religion, let alone one that's based on ignorance and fear?!
OMG, there are people who don't think a person can be both christian and unfit?! wow, scary stuff!

it is wrong for ANYONE to steal...Christian or Pagan.
If the mother is unfit, the grandmother should follow the proper LEGAL channels so that the child does not suffer

I think there's so much to your story that we here could never know, making it unfair for us to even state an opinion. For example, I can hardly see how Unfit and Christian go together, it's either or.

fortunately, unless you are a danger to yourself or others, she doesn't have a legal leg to stand on. My ex has tried to prevent visitation because of my pagan beliefs and fortunately the courts are more level headed then you realize
