so what's this mean?

i hadn't been in to see him in a while and was walking down the isle. when i saw him he looked up and leaned over the podium with his hands extended out hanging over the podium and he stared at me and kind of smiled and yes i smiled too. what do you think this meant by him doing this?

i think that he was just being friendly. sorry if that is depressing.
