Undercover cops absolutely do not have to say that they are cops if you ask them. If they had to do so, they would be unable to perform their duties, and putting them undercover would be even more dangerous than it is. This myth originated among prostitutes who believed that if they asked, the officer would tell. The fact is that many prostitutes, drug dealers, etc ask because of this myth, but they are still busted in sting operations and therefor are wrong. Here is a website that addresses this myth along with others. http://www.snopes.com/risque/hookers/cop.asp

There is no general law that prohibits lying about your occupation. Therefore, undercover police are not required to disclose their profession. Undercover officers are also exempted from criminal liability by participating in certain illegal activies in the course of their work. For instance, when an undercover cop buys illegal drugs in a sting, his participation does not neutralize the criminal charges against the seller.

that whole "entrapment" thing is an urban legend type thing.....there is such a thing as entrapment but the officer would have to go above and beyond what normal undercover police do......like actually sleep with a prostitute, or shoot someone to prove their not a cop...stuff like that. buying drugs or asking how much for oral is not entrapment thats only in the movies sorry

Sure absolutely... Go sell someone dope and if they deny being an officer it's entrapment, right?
I hope that someone does try that, ha ha ha. Be a good story to tell their cellmate.

Of course not, that is a silly rumor, I have no idea where it started but they are allowed to lie, to curse the police and call them names.

No, and they are also protected from lying to you, so you do have a choice to either do bad and get caught or do good and walk away..?????
