We are studying Islam and how the women cant reveal pretty much any of their body because it isnt proper or whatever. They even pray in seperate areas of the mosque than the men in fear of the men staring at their butts. Also, they swim at separate beaches than the men.
So instead of making women cover themselves up with what they were BORN with, why cant they just teach men to control their horniess so the women dont walk around looking like dummies?

Ok, first of all not ALL american women are too fond of the sex thrown out in our society.
Also, I heard someone talking (not sure if this is muslims necessarily) about how if fathers had baby girls, they would bury them because they wanted boys. And if a woman was raped, she was killed because she was 'pureless'...real respect for women, mmmhmm.

Well, wasn't it precisely because muhammad couldn't control his lusts???
That's why muslim females must cover themselves up.
This is one good example, why Jihad is NOT self-cultivation.
Instead of cultivating one's self and character, muhammad enslaved the rest and force them to stop 'tempting' him.
One wonders why the naked men in South Africa does not rape the similarly naked women in South Africa???
The problem does not lie with the women, it lies with the muslim men!

Its a security blanket for the women, and to keep other men from being tempted. When I was in kuwait, we had men from Kuwait city working on post, and a little skin goes a long way, I was in shorts and they just couldn't handle seeing a little skin, because that was the way they were raised. Never seeing skin all the time like the men in the US. I think it made the women too hot in the summertime, but the women didn't seem to mind.

This is just an add on.......the Islam tradition of having woman worship separately is a direct copy of the Hebrew splitting of men and woman during Sabbath services. Women go to the balcony.
On the other....placing women were they aren't available or even dressed in a way were a man could dream is perfectly fitted to a warrior society. The men want, the commander wants a battle won. Commander says take this town and you may have any women of the town you want in any way you want them, but you must kill the men first and bring the boys to the "teachers" for training.

We don't feel like dummy and am sorry if you feel so! wearing what we are suppose to wear. And what made you think that we need your opinion about what we are.
We feel comfortable and happy as it is and wonder why you people have problem with that. Its a free world and we female adult Muslim can choose what we want to be and we chose Islam. So whats you problem here dear!
Men are horny means even in dummy clothing we can make men feel horny. We don't need scantily clothes like you do. Sorry babe, its sad to know you hefta strip yourselves just to get men attention!

It's about respect for women. Islam was at the time liberal towards women, if you consider Christianity saying women are the reason why we were cast out of perfection. But society has rendered Christianity a lesser force, while radical muslims still exist aplenty.
According to their world view, they are perfectly happy covering up. It's just like we don't walk around nude. But we just have a different moral "tolerance" for clothing.

We dress this way out of choice. Honestly I don't want men looking at the shape of my body or judging me on what I wear. Why should I care that guys like girls to dress skimpy. And like someone said above, it hasn't worked in other countries to control urges.

eh diffrent cultures. I've talked to some muslim women who just wear the scarves and they enjoy being covered in public. They feel like they aren't constantly being judged or pressured to look a certain way based on society's view on beauty.

Most of what you're referring to is Arabic custom, not Islamic. So, read up on that, first. You'll be much more informed. Then, try walking down any street in America wearing a bikini, you'll find out real fast how much fun that will be. Even in the US men will act stupid, think that you're easy, and try to assault you.

Men are also supposed to follow these rules, too. It is not only women who have to cover their bodies, its men also. And men have to lower their eyes. They dont seem to understand this part.
Punishment of rape:
"When a woman went out in the time of the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) for prayer, a man attacked her and overpowered (raped) her. She shouted and he went off, and when a man came by, she said: That (man) did such and such to me. And when a company of the Emigrants came by, she said: That man did such and such to me. They went and seized the man whom they thought had had intercourse with her and brought him to her.
She said: Yes, this is he. Then they brought him to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him). When he (the Prophet) was about to pass sentence, the man who (actually) had assaulted her stood up and said: Apostle of Allah, I am the man who did it to her.
He (the Prophet) said to the woman: Go away, for Allah has forgiven you. And about the man who had intercourse with her, he said: Stone him to death.
He also said: He has repented to such an extent that if the people of Medina had repented similarly, it would have been accepted from them. (Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 38, Number 4366)"
And you have the 2nd part completely wrong. This was a practice done before islam and islam ended it!! Here is the Quran verses:
When the female (infant) buried alive is questioned for what crime she was killed.... (Qur'an 81:8-9)
When news is brought to one of them of (the birth of) a female (child), his face darkens and he is filled with inward grief! With shame he hides himself from his people because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain her on (sufferance and) contempt or bury her in the dust? Ah! what an evil (choice) they decide on! (Qur'an 16:58-59)
And hadith:
Whosoever has a daughter and does not bury her alive, does not insult her, and does not favor his son over her, Allah will enter him into Paradise. (Ahmad)

I tell you what you should do to understand them more perfectly: go on dress yourself as they do, and try to live with it!
What's the importance to make them look different!
