I never understood this when younger.
Then I lived being an abused wife, loved being a single mum, totally enjoyed being a mature age Uni student, have had major kidney problems have had a couple of life-saving operations; died in 2001 due to hospital negligence then this week I some-how lived through a day when my wonderful daughter had a heart operation with a 40% chance of dying.
Also, apparently it's bad, I learned from having 11 different schools, and 25 different homes.
Why do I do I tell you this? Because I coped, ME, MYSELF, I.
I am a DAVIES (my family name).
I COPED WITH-OUT the need for any-thing else because my family suffered, in the 1800S being poor coal miners. My father coped with being a doctor, where death abounded, in Africa.
I do NOT need any-thing else. Many people I have met get stressed if they have the flu. And the way they get if they have to move house is ridiculous.
They can NOT cope with-out this idiot God person who tells them what to do.
I say idiot because my KIND Dad, grandparents etc. gave me the education to cope alone; so why didn't this idiot, God person, give humans this INCREDIBLY basic parental advice.
You obviously have an organized well functioning brain. The
poor, pathetic, baby-like humans are to be pitied for being involved.
Do NOT worry. look at history and see that it may take hundreds of years but the intelligent people do survive.
Also this cool, bastard ( bastard means a person whose parents do not marry, this man had step dad called Joe) knew about medicine and modern healing although he lived a long time ago. He only lost his temper once and that was at organised religion making money.
He said these cool things, my favourite one was about meekness. Meekness means being not organised, not being pushy, BUT quietly surviving, quietly thinking, NOt telling others what to do.
This cool man said "The meek shall inherit the Earth." (His name was Jesus).
We people like you and me and some others will survive DESPITE organised religion.

Tell me that you don't really believe that we are at war right now because Saddam was such a big green meanie. If so, I have a bridge you might want to buy.
The human race has never been short on reasons to commit atrocities, and religion is only a cover-up for the actual reason, most of the time. Land, oil, power, greed, selfishness -- those are the real causes of most wars.
Religion is just one more excuse for people to kill and maim each other. . .and by no means the main one these days.

Yes right I see the savages & uncivilized drunks, murderers, rapists, terrorists everyday on J Osteen, C. Dollar, Billy Graham. Better run they're armed- WITH THE WORD OF GOD!
Some of the ones that I've read pushed for wars before called the neo cons(?) I am not even familiar with(unless P Robertson). They don't do this alone-what about 'the decider'.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not pick up arms and do not get involved in the political things of the world as they remain neutral. Their fight is not against fleshly nations on the call of political leaders but to wage war on evil spiritual forces by teaching the Bible and fulfilling God's command to by making disciples of people of all the nations (Matthew 28:19-20).
Jehovah's Witnesses are peacful and never can say they killed a brother of another nation.
Jehovah's Witnesses await God's kingdom on earth as a permanant and everlasting solution to mankinds problems.

get rid of faith and the question will become "Who Thinks *insert race/ethnicity/nationality/gender/sexual orientation/political association/philosophy grew to become into The Worst achieveable element Ever To take place To The Human Race!?" Human nature is human nature, and conflict would be fought be it over faith, politics, or different motives. FYI--quite some wars are fought under the GUISE of religion, altruism, philosophy, or different good-feeling techniques while basically the motivations are just to take something somebody else has. working occasion--"conflict on terror" and our neverending occupation of Iraq and now our involvement in Libya. that's approximately oil, no longer faith, no longer race, no longer even "freedom". in case you think of maximum if no longer all wars have been definitely further on by making use of somebody's religious ideals you're a very, VERY naive individual.

Yes Krishna says in the Gita "Whenever their is a decline in religious principals and the truth appears to be lost, I appear again and again or send My representative to reestablish the truth." So that is why so many religions. But God gives unlimited opportunities for the fallen conditioned souls to return home. It is man who makes it my way or the highway or hell as they say. Its all for power and control man changes things. Want the original New testament before king Constantine changed everything. go to gospelofthenazirenes.c Krishna Conscious is not religion but many try to make one out of it. IT is Sanatan Dharma - our original occupation. for more info go to harekrishnatemple.c read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada- tells universal truths.

Define organized religion. Believing in God is not a wrong thing to do. To use your religion for atrocities is wrong.

You must be talking about the millions of people who have been slaughtered in the name of God over the years. The Jesus freaks will tell ya that that is "the will of God." If that's true than God must be one hell of a bloodthirsty sadist.

Apparently if you have god on your side, and you follow the words of a handful of long-dead shepherds... then you can rationalize away any atrocity.

Because no one wants to believe that THEIR belief is responsible for any of that. Seriously though...only fanatics in any religion are the ones who promote that crap. Many people with religious affiliations, ALSO use their own common sense.
