It's none of their business if you don't feel comfortable telling them, don't.
Tell them for medical reasons and they should leave you alone. If not, just say it's personal. If they persist just tell them it's none of their business.
You could also just say you need some personal time.

There is a DJ around here who told everyone, inclluding his audience that he was going to have the surgery. He always talks about the proceedure and lets us know twhen he is having problems. So yes, tell your world what is happening.

You don't have to tell the world if you don't want to. Honestly though, I think that people just want to make sure that you're ok.
