Make sure you have light enough shoes, I hate going over in my trainers because I feel like an elephant attempting the impossible... Does your coach have you do hurdle drills when you warm up? Those help me visualize what is happening to my trail leg during an actual hurdle, so if you don't do those already maybe you could make a suggestion. There are lots of stretches to help flexibility, and I've noticed that the best hurdlers and the relaxed, bendable, active, dancer type girls whom we all envy for their flexibility, so keep stretching and never give up on the hurdles! I can honestly say they are my favorite race, so keep practicing!

You don't need your trail leg closer to your chest for one. You need better rotation and pull through.
beginning from well behind the body if the drive is to be completed, you should feel the trailing knee sweeping wide and flat over the hurdle, As the leg crosses the hurdle, the foot must be ****** at the ankle so that the foot does not hit the hurdle, after crossing the hurdle, the knee continues to rise and comes round in front of the body, the trail leg must be pulled through high and fast,so that the run off(next steps) stride is fast

Trail Leg Isolation Drills

1.
Take a hurdle, place the hurdle at race height. Men place the hurdle so that it is even with the bottom of your groin. Lean forward as if you were hurdling grab hold of a fence, wall, or another hurdle. Place you lead leg beside hurdle and snap your trail leg over the hurdle.

Concentrate on pulling the trail leg through fast and bring it down quickly.
* Closing the door, it is a technique with the arms. Bring your lead arm back keeping it close to the body and pull it back as if you were closing a door.

2.
Use six to eight hurdles set initially at a lower than normal race height. The drill can be done using three strides or one stride between close spaced hurdles.
walk down the side of the flight of hurdles taking only the trailing leg over the hurdle. The lead leg must go past the line of the hurdle before the trail leg is used.
Once the drill has been mastered at a walking pace, then do it at a faster pace.

The hips are kept high throughout and the eyes should look ahead at the next hurdle. There should be a good range of arm movement, with the opposite arm leading the action.

It's all in the snap. It's kind of like you have to have a cadence in your head. You think about clearing the hurdle then immediately think about getting that trail leg back on the ground running or you'll lose speed.
