I don't know if there's ever been a study done for singers. I know that in recent brain research on musicians, violinists in particular, there was an amazing statistic of about 10,000 hours of practice needed before that certain area of the brain became as highly developed as it could be. That's about 10 years at three hours a day.
I also know that most opera singers who attend a university or music school generally spend 4-6 years there, not just singing mind you, and some of them are nowhere close to being ready to go to work by the end of that time.
Please consider carefully. There are no guarantees that one will get a job in the field, even after all that wonderful and expensive schooling. The classical music biz in America is funded almost entirely on private money, and in even in Germany, the old state-supported system is breaking down, with more and more opera houses ( there used to be over 125 in an area the size of California that ran all-year round, with full time staff, orchestra, chorus, etc.) either merging or going belly up from lack of funds. Not a secure job situation at all.
Singing semi-pro or as a hobby brings as many psychological benefits as professional singing ( perhaps more because of less stress?) in case you do elect to keep on singing
Best wishes

I'd say ten. And probably more than an hour a day - think about how much singing they do rehearsing for a show. It's not easy! You seem to be considering a career in the performing arts. Whatever you choose you need to devote AT LEAST two hours a day, six days a week for years until you're good enough to earn money.
I trained professionally as a dancer when I was younger and spent up to four hours a day in classes, and I still sucked!

Singing is something that everybody can learn and improve. Of course, some are more naturally skilled than others, but even a poor voice can be overcome by dedication, practice, and more practice. Even if you're content to sing in the shower, there are some things you can do to improve your voice. This is probably the best online course to improve your singing skills https://tr.im/GrXol
Your golden voice will be ringing out in no time!
