Any dog can be trained with patience.

It's easier to train them when they are young as their minds are still developing. But, it's defenitely possible to teach an old dog new tricks.

If the dog has a biting problem, you may want to seek the help of a canine behaviorist.

Yeah any dog can be trained at any time unless they have been abused beyond all hope of psychological recovery. I have trained far older dogs new tricks in fact I think they are easier to train because they are generally more mature and clamer and have a longer attention span. Young dogs have the attention span of a fruit fly in most cases althought there are exceptions, but older dogs are generally more patient and observant and have aquired some maturity.. making them easier to train althought there are exceptions to that rule as well.

You can train a 5-year old dog in obedience, but if it has a history of aggression such as biting, the chances for rehabilitating it are low. You would need to work with a professional trainer, but I wouldn't get my hopes up of solving an aggression problem in a dog that has a history of biting.

Keep in mind that if you keep a dog with a known history of biting and it bites someone, you could face both criminal and civil charges for having a vicious dog.

Absolutely. My husky/Rottweiler mix was/is a fear biter and I've had him about 1.5 years and got him around 8 years of age or so. They need structure, structure, structure. Google "nothing in life is free" and that should get you started. Now my husky/Rott mix is quite well behaved and got his Canine Good Citizen certification in December at the age of around 10 years or so. Definitely do-able. Consult a good trainer or behaviorist.

Of course!! You can train any age dog. You just have to be consistent and discipline him/her when he/she isn't responding to what you are training them to do. Try taking your dog to the local pets store to ask what kind of classes they offer and how old they have to be!! good luck and have fun!

yes, with diligence and lots of time. It won't be easy! why'd you wait so long? You didn't say what he's biting. If it's people and it happens often then I'd give him up.

it's not 100% impossible. if you have patience and your dog is willing to listen to your commands, it won't be a problem. but i can tell you, it will be very tough.......
