I just wanted to know, since I am vowing not to drink / smoke ever under any circumstances. (I'm a teen)

Is will power stronger than pressure? Or is it no match?

I did.

I still don't smoke, and never will. But I do have a glass of wine once in awhile with a meal.

It had nothing to do with pressure, I just realized I was being naive in abstaining from all alcohol.

I don't feel like I broke my vow, as it was made for health reasons. And it was for health reasons that I reevaluated the position.

Will power stronger but only if you can continue to want not to smoke or drink for example say you vow not to drink or smoke but a year later you notice everyone else doing so it not so bad to you no more and you give in. Just don't be around it so off ten it becomes normal to you.Good luck and you can do it.

I was never / and have never been silly enough to make a promise that I cannot keep.

I smoke and drink. Although I don't drink much or often, and I really do not enjoy smoking at all anymore. Not because of hype or medical. I just personally do not like and probably won't be doing it for much longer.

I drank more before I was of legal age than I did after. However, it is not something I am proud of. Only you can decide if will power is stronger than pressure. But you can do it! Be strong. There are lots of people who don't drink. It is such a cliche to drink as a teen. Don't be a cliche.

I said the same thing when I was little lol. I didn't drink until I was legal but I do drink socially not at every event though so probably about one to three drinks per month but I will NEVER smoke.

Will power doesnt cut it. From my perspective, and Im in recovery for Alcoholism, you need spiritual guidence to be able to over come it, will power alone doesnt cut it....You have the right idea and wish you the best of luck. If it helps you any, alcohol and smoking is a disease of the mind, and its soul purpose is to want you dead. Keep that in mind, because that, and any spiritual guidence (believing there is someone higher than you control things, doesnt mean going to church) keep me sober today.

young ones are not truly able to imagining (yet) what those issues would be like. except they have had some experience with a kinfolk member or chum who has had issues, to young ones, this is truly merely yet another rule to be broken. they have an psychological know-how, of direction, yet they have not any life experience to coach them that the arguments against smoking truly propose something.

me.... im 15 and when i was little i promised myself i would never smoke because both my parents smoke and i didnt want them to die at an early age. but now i smoke when im around my friends. i dont really think its peer pressure because not all of my friends smoke, and sometimes its just me. i smoke because it does make me feel good (it relaxes me, etc...), but im not addicted to it. i also drink alcohol at parties, but when i start driving i wont because i dont want to drink and drive because this will probably get me killed. well, i hope my advice helped
:D
